In a rare occurrence, August had a second Full Moon during the month. It is known as a “Blue Moon.” It is shown over Cincinnati on Friday, August 31.

The family of Apollo 11 astronaut Neil Armstrong held a memorial that day. Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon in 1969 and he passed away on August 25, 2012. The memorial held in Cincinnati that day celebrated all Armstrong had done in his life.

  1. My family and I thought it was appropriate that Neil Armstrong’s memorial was on the day of the Blue Moon. He accomplished what so many people thought was impossible.
